The Rise of the Valkyrie

In the February 2012 ad campaign featuring NFL Rookie of the Year Cam Newton, he was seen wearing the Valkyrie short- originally designed for Spring 2011 basketball. The "Big Logo short" as it came to be known inside the office walls, has grown to be the highest selling basketball short in Under Armour's history. Watch the video to see more images and check out more images after the jump.
The Valkyrie Short is a generously- cut basketball short with a drop-needle dazzle body and textured mesh insets. The true appeal of the short, however, is the 4.5" wide Under Armour logo applique set between the two insets. The short became the first basketball short to consistently sell 100, 000 units or more in 5 straight seasons and has been tweaked in dozens of colors. The original intent was to treat the UA logo as if it were a basketball team logo so that it has "court impact" from 20 feet away.
